Contour Diapers are shaped to fit into a diaper cover without being folded. Contour diapers are made without velcro or snap closures and require a cover.
Fitted Cloth Diapers are shaped like disposable diapers. They close around baby's waist with velcro or snap closures. A fastener like pins or a Snappi are not necessary. Fitted diapers require a cover.
All In One Cloth Diapers (AIO Diapers) are put on exactly like disposable diapers. They do not need a cover - the cover is sewn to the absorbent material. No wondering if the diaper in tucked in the cover properly.
One Size Cloth Diapers usually span infant to early toddler years. In the beginning, you snap or fold down the rise so that they fit your baby. A cover goes over them.
Micro Terry Cloth Diapers are flat diapers. They offer excellent absorbency with minimal bulk. They need a cover over them - a snug fitting or pocket diaper works best.
Diaper covers are the waterproof part of your two piece diapering system, the other part is the absorbent diaper.
Pocket covers (or pocket diapers) come with an absorbent insert, please see the product description for more details. They have two layers of material, the inner layer that allows moisture to pass through while keeping your baby dry and an outer waterproof layer.
Bummis Whisper Pant is a pull on style that works really well over all fitted diapers. Pull on styles have no snap or velcro closures. Instead they have stretchy binding that fits snugly at the legs and waist.
We also carry disposable-shaped wraps in many styles that close with snaps or velcro. With most of the velcro closing covers you can use a prefold diaper without any fasteners. Contour and fitted diapers also work with velcro and snap closing covers.
Your diaper covers can be reused several times before being washed, as long as they're clean.
Most covers work better for some baby's shapes than others. Some are better for chubby babies, some are better for skinny babies, some don't work very well with fitted diapers or contour diapers and some don't work very well with prefolds. It's a good idea to try several to find out what works best for you. Having several different types of covers also means that your baby's skin isn't being rubbed in the same place every day by the cover. If you are looking to try one cover, I would try the Bummis Super Wrap or Thirsties Cover. Either one works well with most diapers and fits a wide range of babies.
Covers that have two layers of fabric tend to stain less on the inside. The single fabric layer with the laminate can be wiped on the inside and can be used again (barring any messes).
Liners can add more absorbency to your cloth diapering system and help make clean up easier or both at once!
Disposable liners are great for an easier clean up. If you are just thinking of trying cloth diapering, I recommend that you try a roll of disposable liners.
Make the transition from diapers easier with the FlipNFlush and cloth training pants that allow your toddler to feel wetness without it going everywhere.
